Most people who have kept a dog have witnessed it bark while it is obviously dreaming. Calling out during a disturbing or active dream is common to humans also. Some people sleep talk so frequently, they worry in case they disturb the sleep of others, or say things they regret. In some cases they will even respond to questions. One such person told me that she went to her mother’s room and asked her about whether of not to get married. The dreamer was single, so the subject of the talk may have been bothering her.
